Melbourne Wedding & Function Band : Alegria - meaning happiness in Spanish - is an exciting, sophisticated and versatile duo or trio which will light up your wedding reception, corporate convention, function or private party in Melbourne or country Victoria.
Lead singer Priscilla and vocalist, keyboardist and saxophonist Martin are consummate musicians and performers with years of experience playing music for weddings, functions, night clubs, parties, hotels and restaurants both in Australia and internationally. They can provide anything from smooth jazz and ballads to dynamic dance sets featuring a huge range of music (see Song Lists) from 50’s rock’n'roll through soul, funk, Motown, disco, 80’s, 90’s, R&B and the most recent pop hits. Add to this Martin’s experience living in Spain and his repertoire of Latin dance songs, sung in fluent Spanish and Portuguese and Priscilla’s Latin repertoire and you have a fantastic array of music that will keep everyone happy. Ballroom dance aficianados will be especially in their element! Viva la fiesta!
Together we can tailor-make a song list and time line for your wedding, party or function that will suit the feeling you want to create and you will have etched into your memory a night to remember forever.
If your budget allows for a trio we can also add a saxophonist to spice up the sound.
Master of Ceremonies (MC)
Why not take a lot of the hassle out of the organisation of your wedding and kill two birds with one stone. Martin is a highly experienced and competent MC who can bring a touch of humour and show-biz panache to the role of MC and so you can not only organise the perfect music for your unforgettable evening but have it all synched in with a professional MC who can be as formal or as light hearted as you want your wedding or party to be.
Other services
As well as a professional MC service, Alegria can also provide wedding ceremony music, “Live Karaoke“, Children’s and Seniors’ Entertainment and DJ services. You can also arrange to have your favourite tracks playing while we take our breaks or for those special moments such as the Bridal Waltz or the entrance. Songs
The array of songs (Song Lists) is simply awesome and you can tailor your wedding/function entertainment around songs you love and think your friends/family will also enjoy. We have a full range of slower ballads and jazz standards for pre-dinner drinks and dinner sets and then, to really get the party rocking, a full array of dance floor classics from the 1950’s to the 80’s, the 90’s to now.
Latin Dance Music
If you’re interested there are the Latin numbers (see Latin Dance Music) which are extremely popular at the moment thanks in part to “Dancing with the Stars”. Most people find these great to dance to - even if they’ve never seen the inside of a dance studio! For those who have, Alegria can provide songs in all the popular dance styles such as salsa, merengue, samba, tango, cha cha, jive, hip hop, waltz and rhumba.
Top class P.A., Lighting and Backings
Another feature of this talented group is that Martin creates many of the backings live on his keyboard which provides amazing authenticity and versatility - especially if dancers are in the groove and just don’t want a song to end or Grandma leaps on to the dance floor just as the Nutbush is about to end! Then he can switch to the saxophone to vary the sound for some Motown, blues or R&B. The backing tracks used are top class professional tracks usually re-mixed and edited in Martin’s home studio.
The P.A. is also state of the art and is also especially designed to spread the sound evenly around the room. We are always mindful of the importance of getting the volume just right so guests are free to talk over dinner and are not overwhelmed and it has the power and sound quality for a dynamic dance set, no matter how large the room or marquee.
We also provide coloured lights and can provide dance floor lighting effects if required.
